MONTY SOUNDS APPS
Choose your platform with Monty Sounds Select, then use the instructions below.
Install the Web App
First open Monty Sounds Select and choose Web App.
Android
- Open Monty Sounds in Chrome or another supporting browser.
- Open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Confirm the installation. Monty Sounds can then be opened from your apps/home screen.
iPhone / iPad
- Open Monty Sounds in Safari.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Confirm the name and tap Add.
Windows / macOS / desktop
- Open Monty Sounds in a browser that supports web-app installation.
- Use the Install icon in the address bar or the browser menu's Install option.
- Confirm. If no install option is offered, you can continue using Monty Sounds normally in the browser.
Install the Android Phone App
- Go to Monty Sounds Select and choose Android Phone.
- Download the APK offered by Select.
- If Android blocks the installation, open the prompt/settings for Install unknown apps and allow the browser or file manager you used to download the APK.
- Return to the APK and choose Install.
- Open Monty Sounds and sign in or pair the device when prompted.
- For extra security, you may turn the Install unknown apps permission off again after installation.
Android shows this warning because the app is installed directly rather than through Google Play. Only use the Monty Sounds download reached from Select.
Install on Google TV / Android TV
Start at Monty Sounds Select and choose the TV platform. If your TV installation method allows you to open/install the supplied package directly, follow the on-screen prompts.
Install from a computer with ADB / CMD
- On the TV, enable Developer Options. On many Google TV devices this is done in Settings → System → About by selecting the Android TV OS build repeatedly until developer mode is enabled.
- In Developer Options, enable the available debugging option (usually USB debugging or wireless/network debugging, depending on the device).
- Note the TV's IP address from its network settings.
- On the computer, install Android Platform Tools and open Command Prompt/Terminal in the folder containing
adb. - Connect:
adb connect TV_IP_ADDRESS. Approve the debugging request on the TV. - Install the APK downloaded via Select:
adb install "path-to-monty-sounds-tv.apk". - When installation reports success, open Monty Sounds on the TV.
If a newer APK needs to replace an existing compatible installation, adb install -r "path-to-monty-sounds-tv.apk" can request an in-place reinstall. If Android reports a signing/signature mismatch, the existing app may need to be removed first; removing an app also removes that app's local data.
Sign in, pair and sync
Your Monty Sounds account is shared across supported devices. The app may show a QR code or pairing code. On a signed-in browser, open Monty Sounds Account/Settings, go to Devices, scan the QR code where supported or enter the pairing code, then approve the device. Account playlists and supported synced information become available after sign-in/sync.
Two-factor authentication is optional. If it is enabled, it protects supported sign-ins. Adding or managing an authenticator is done from Monty Sounds Settings on a desktop computer.
